I belong to about 40 groups over in Redbubble.  I even moderate one over there.  It's a great way of getting your work seen in the wider community.

Over here in DA, I belong to about 5 groups.  I rarely add work to them as it's not the easiest thing to figure out how, in comparison to a ticking a box in Redbubble!!

I finally decided to put something in DA last week, and I uploaded the image into the group on APN.  Both were recent uploads.  Both in  my opinion were good high quality images.  Both were declined.  I tried to upload them again, but I now can't as it 'exceeds the monthly submission of two images'.  That would be fine, but I don't have any images there at all!!

I have made many friends on DA, but you will notice that I haven't renewed my subscription.  I'm not sure I will, and I am truly thinking of leaving.  What's the point of staying when I can swap email addresses with my friends and keep in touch that way?

If it's photography you're after from me, then you can visit my blogs, or join me on Redbubble.

My blogs are:  [link] [link]

You can find me on redbubble at:

and my email address:  robyn.carter@xtra.co.nz

I haven't left yet - but in the next 3-4 weeks I'm going to seriously think about what DA is doing for me and will make a decision then.

Cheers
Robyn

Stuff the clubs, Robyn.
Most of them are run by nongs.
Hand around, your work stands for itself.

You shouldn't leave. You have a great gallery and I've requested one of your photos for my group #PhotoArtists.

Not quite yet! It's the people that make this place special. I've decided to stick with the people, and ignore some of the groups :)

alot of photo's get declined for no good reason all becouse the group thinks its not right, or overexposed or to dark, while in some photo's it makes the shot amazing to have a "flaw"... i do agree with you, all tho i do hope you would stay.

Yes - I agree. They looked at the time that I took my image (9.36am), and decided the light was flat and told me that it was better to take it earlier. Then they told me I could fix it by double processing it. What they don't realise is that it was daylight savings so it was taken much ealier, and that I had already double processed it, AND, I had purposely lightened it as I was sick of 'dark'!! It's really popular on Redbubble.

I remind myself that it's ONE person's opinion only, and they're not necessarily an expert!

yeah i agree, a photo of mine was rejected for being to dark, while that kind off was the point... i did change the picture to see how it would look like lighter, and did keep it that way... Everyone has a difrent opinion on what a good photo is, just as not everyone likes picasso ;)

Many DA groups are run by inexperienced photographers/artists and it is no surprise that good or great work is declined for the flimsiest of reasons. Take a look at the work of those purporting to be moderators and you will see many have little or nothing to offer so I suggest you dont take it to heart. I am not particularly fond of groups myself and seldom submit to them except when asked. It would be a shame to leave DA because of this
